Gamsby and Mannerow Ltd. have completed the Environmental
Assessment (EA) required for the proposed North Shore Sewer
Installation Project.
The EA included:
initial comments for regulatory agencies
public comments
natural heritage Environmental Impact Study (EIS)
archeological assessment
additional project information
second submission of comments or correspondence from interested
regulatory agencies
According to a staff report to Council on Monday night, the
'Recommended Alternative' is to install a gravity sewer collection
system to a series of two pump station, pumping through a forcemain
to the existing sewage pumping station.
With the EA now done, the project is nearing the end of the planning
process but according to the town's head of engineering, Dave
Burnside, "The project has not yet been approved to proceed to the

A Notice of Completion must first be published (September
22nd) and that then starts the 30-day review period during which time
further written comments or concerns can be submitted to the town. If
any concerns cannot be resolved between the party and the town, the
party can then submit a request to the Ministry of the Environment,
which in turn will be copied to the town, no later than October 22nd. If
no requests are received by that date, the project can then go ahead,
subject to Council's approval.
