Eileen Ramsey of Poppy's Garden Centre Eileen Ramsey of Poppy's Garden Centre brought a hint of spring to the audience with a variety of plants. "Gardens depend on the individual, they are a very personal thing," said Ramsey. "You can grow a scent garden where everything smells wonderful or you can grow plants that will attract butterflies or birds such as hummingbirds. Whether it's for a shady spot or full sun, there are plants that are specific for every condition."
Peggy Vecchies of Reflections in Port Elgin explains skin care Peggy Dillon-Vecchies of Reflections Total Skin Care located in Port Elgin, explained to the women in the audience, the importance of skin care. "Healthy skin is the first step to looking and feeling your best," explained Vecchies. "Regardless of age, there are steps that you can take to give your skin a healthy glow , including drinking a lot of water. Jennifer Haessler explains the importance of food Finally,
Naturopath and and doctor of homeopathy, Jennifer Haessler, also versed
in the sciences of acupuncture and ancient Chinese medicine, pointed out
that many aspects of oriental medicine are now being incorporated into
western medicine. "What we put into our bodies is extremely important.
If I had to recommend a 'super' food, it would have to be flax. It
should always be freshly ground however, and can then be sprinkled on
cereal or taken in a drink. The other is fish oil. It contains EPA
and DHA which are vital for neurological health especially for children
and seniors." Haessler practices out of the Maple Shores Health Centre
on Goderich St. (across from the Port Elgin library).
