ELECTION SIGN VANDALS

Statement by Thom Noble Liberal Candidate Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound:

Election sign vandals strike every day during election campaigns.

This weekend more than 40 large legally posted, Thom Noble election signs, were stolen from roadsides in the southern part of our riding.
On one day last week, four signs supporting Liberal Thom Noble, appeared to have been mowed down in front of the candidate's Owen Sound campaign office.
Across the street, signs supporting our Conservative opponent were untouched.

Noble says "We abhor any interference in the democratic process. Any destruction of candidate signs is an illegal attempt to interfere in that process. Vandalism is a criminal offence.

If our campaign discovers the identity of any person responsible for election sign tampering, even if that the person works on our campaign, we will immediately dismiss that campaign worker and turn the matter over to the Ontario Provincial or municipal police and Elections Canada.

We encourage all citizens, no matter who they support, to do all they can to report such acts of vandalism to the authorities. Then we will have a peaceful election that truly represents the choice of the voters."

Election signs cost campaigns between 5 and 10 dollars each to print, and set up on wooden or metal stakes.
