(L) Southampton Rotary President, Henry Weickert, with Rotarian Andrea LaBlance (R), presents $300 cheque to winner Dr. Gordon McKay,

It was buried for the winter under a mountain of snow in front of Southampton's Square Deal Neil's. Then, on March 25th at 3:16 p.m., the red detergent bottle became visible.

The event was a fundraiser for a Southampton Rotary community project. The Club came up with the idea based on an old tradition of years ago, where a car would be put out on the lake ice and people would buy raffle tickets to guess when it would go through because of the spring melt.

Rotarians sold tickets throughout the winter in various businesses including, Square Deal Neil's, Legault's Independent, Southampton CIBC bank and Foodland, raising $1,574.
