Work continues on the addition to the Davidson Centre which
is expected to open in May.
Kincardine councillor Guy Anderson brought an update on the
project to the regular meeting of the Kincardine Area Seniors
Advisory/Action Committee (KASAAC) Feb. 5. He said the addition
should reach its substantial completion date by April, with a
grand opening in May.
He said many groups and organizations are making donations to
help furnish the addition, and the municipality hopes to
recognize all donors in an official manner later this year. The
$2-million addition will be over 10,000 square feet in size and
will hold new meeting rooms and a fitness centre. It is being
built to the south of the existing building.
Meanwhile, recreation supervisor Erin Frook told KASAAC that
nordic walking will return this spring, with information
available in the spring recreation guide. She asked the
committee and other seniors' groups to contact her regarding
activities they would like added to a grant application for
provincial funding through "Communities in Action," geared at
increasing the physical activity for seniors. Frook can be
reached at 519-396-3491. (next column)
