Curatorial Assistant Laura Leonard

There will soon be a new full-time Curatorial Assistant at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre.

Laura Leonard, originally from the Niagara area, holds a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology from Wilfred Laurier University at Waterloo and also a Post-diploma Certficate in Museum Management and Curatorship from Sir Sanford Fleming College of Peterborough.  

 

Leonard completed her Collections Internship at Kelowna Museum in British Colmbia in 2006, where she was involved in all facets of the collections management data base systems.

Even as a teen, Leonard wanted to travel.  She went to Kentucky to go spelunking and then to Italy and Greece to see first-hand the remains of ancient civilizations.  From a very young age, Leonard had a love of history and historical artifacts.  "This opportunity is of great interest to me because it will serve to both broaden my museum experience and aide in my goal to eventually become a registrar or collections manager."

Her work experience in various situations helped her develop skills in a wide range of ares including, data entry, computer software application, customer serve, clerical applications and the ability to work as part of a team.  She will officially become part of the Museum team in May.
