Council and Mayor's Salaries Go Up

It's official.

At its meeting Monday night, Saugeen Town Council passed the proposed increase in salaries and wages for certain officers and non-union full-time and permanent part-time members of the Town Staff for 2009.

All full-time employees under the non-union policy, permanent part-time staff, Medical Building employees and Council members will receive a three per-cent (3%) increase effective January 1st.

Employee earnings vary widely, ranging from annual salaried positions to hourly rated staff. On Council, the Mayor will now be paid $27,318, the Deputy Mayor $17,484, the Vice Deputy Mayor $14,205 and each councilor will receive $12,020. In addition, they are paid Per Diem rates of $170 for a full day and $85 for a half day.
