- Drainage superintendent Grant Collins is not in favour of
installing infiltration ditches and mini-storm water ponds in
municipal drains.
"I have a real problem creating fish habitat in a municipal drain,"
he said. "It's also not appropriate because of the possibility of
West Nile Virus (in the pond water). It'll likely be another
experimental thing and there will be problems with the Department of
Fisheries and Oceans and the Ontario Ministry of the Environment."
- Council has agreed with the purchase of a 2009 International
tandem truck for public works at the price of $204,000. The budget
for this item is $200,000.
- Mayor Mitch Twolan and deputy mayor Wilfred Gamble will meet
with the Municipality of Kincardine to renegotiate the joint
recreation cost-sharing agreement.
- Council has agreed to have Gord Dale continue to cut the grass
at the Whitechurch Park this year for the same price as in 2008 -
$95/cut. And Don McFarlane will cut the grass at the Kinlough
Cemetery at the same price as last year - $200/year.
- The township has received a letter from the Municipal Health and
Safety Association, congratulating staff and council for having a
workplace that was free of injury and illness in 2007.
