Kincardine needs a number of citizens to help develop the municipality's Community Plan.

The public consultation phase was to end Sept. 4 which was the deadline for the survey forms to be submitted, said chief administrative officer John deRosenroll at committee-of-the-whole Sept. 2.

Six citizens at large (representing all three wards) are required for the Community Plan working group, as well as one citizen to represent environmental interests, two for youth, and one each for: seniors, tourism, ministerial, education, health care, industrial, agriculture, Business Improvement Area (BIA), and the chamber of commerce. There will also be representation from council, municipal employees and the media.

These people will participate in workshops on Sept. 29, Oct. 29 and Nov. 29, 6-9 p.m., going through such things as community values, strengths and weaknesses, environmental issues, review of other communities' mission/vision statements and their strategic initiatives, and discussion of tactics.

Once the workshops are completed, the information will be reviewed, edited and compiled into a single cohesive Community Plan in draft stage for circulation and comment from all participants of the working group, said deRosenroll. A final draft plan will be presented to council in early December.

Anyone wishing to participate in the working group, can contact Corinne Cleary at 519-396-3018 or E-mail ccleary@kincardine.net  by Sept. 10 at 4 p.m.
