Chippewa semi-private Golf & Country Club, located near the beautiful
Lake Huron shoreline, has been a golf destination for local golfers,
those who visit the area and many of the fundraising tournaments held in
the area for over 40 years.
Built in 1963, the course was designed by Robbie Robinson, a renowned
architect of hundreds of golf courses across Canada. Robinson retained
much of the natural vegetation with mature trees bordering the fairways
to create a park like setting and, with its three sets of tee blocks
over 6400 yards of play, it is accommodating for golfers of all levels.
Owner, Geza Kocsis, also believes in giving back to the community and,
in doing so, has not only hosted many fundraising tournaments but has
also given to the various efforts with in-kind and monetary donations.
One of the most recent tournaments, held in July, was in support of the
local community of Southampton and its 150th Anniversary Celebration to
which $8500 was donated by the Club. In addition, organizations such as
the Bluewater School Board Outdoor Education Foundation (OEC) raised
over $9000, Crimestoppers of Grey Bruce raised over $16,500 and the
Chantry Island ChamBettes at their first ever golf fundraiser were able
to contribute more than $1400 to the Women's House of Bruce, a shelter
for women and children of abuse.
Chippewa's uniquely designed clubhouse has also become a popular spot
for receptions, banquets and corporate functions. A large spacious
Banquet Hall, meeting rooms and lounge areas can accommodate seating for
up to 170 people.
Many couples have also chosen Chippewa to host their wedding reception
knowing that flawless service and excellence of food is assured in a
Banquet Hall where a sweeping view of the course provides a scenic
backdrop. The Country Club is also conveniently located near the Saugeen Amphitheatre with its panoramic view of the Saugeen River
creating the perfect scene for bridal party photo memories.
Whether it's a day of golf topped off with a delectable dinner, a
business meeting over lunch or a full-day tournament, Chippewa's unique
venue and quality service will ensure that your function is memorable.
