Marine Heritage and Propeller Club celebrate the 10,000th visitor to Chantry Island

The 10,000th tour visitor to Chantry Island was awarded a special gift on Wednesday August 13 at 2 pm.  The very special  visitor is Arlene Cook of Southampton.

Arlene was awarded a work of art created by Jeanne Shantz.  It is a special cross stitch that took Jeanne 277+ hours to create and uses 48 different colours.  Since Arlene does cross stitch herself, she was doubly impressed by its beauty and detail.

The award was presented on August 13, 2008 at the Tour Base in Southampton.

The restoration project was launched in 1997 and the first tours were conducted on August 11th, 2001.  Ever since tours on the Peerless have taken place like clockwork.
