Today, marked the last steps in the closing of Chantry Island, off the coast of Southampton on Lake Huron, for the year.

Weatherwise, the day was ideal as volunteers took advantage of the unseasonably warm temperatures and worked throughout the morning on Saturday, November 7, to lift the sections of heavy metal-grate docks. The docks are brought in at the end of each summer season from the Chantry Island lighthouse to the mainland for winter storage and repair.
Each section is carefully strapped for balance and Doug Welsh, with his heavy equipment, provides the expertise to lift the metal docks out of the water and place them at the foot of the Chantry Tour Base at the Southampton Harbour.
