Update on Break and Enter on Chantry Island
![]() Photo Carol Walberg May 2nd, 2008 -- According to Saugeen Shores Police Chief, Dan Rivett, the investigation into the recent damage caused on Chantry Island is ongoing. On April 19th, Police had been called regarding three people who had
gone to the Island in a canoe. The OPP Marine Unit was also contacted.

(continued) When the trio returned to shore safely, officers notified the OPP their Unit was no longer required and then charged the three with boating infractions, such as no flotation devices. At that time, Police were unaware of any damage on the Island. When a letter and photos were received from the Marine Heritage Society, advising of damage and breaking and entering on the Island, further investigation into the matter was undertaken. It was then discovered that two of the persons were from Barrie, Ontario and the third from Sauble Beach. Two were adults, a male and female and the third a minor male.. The older two also were found to be in breach of conditions of probation. Saugeen Shores Police are in ongoing contact with Police in the communities in which the three reside.
