The Chambettes tell tall tales waiting for their breakfast

Each year a group of Chambettes journey to Chantry Island for an overnight visit. They raise funds for the continued care and restoration of the historic icon of the community.  They have contributed time and funds over the years and it is much appreciated.  They have a special relationship with the Island because of their name  'The Chantry Island Chambettes' and their strong connection with heritage in the community.

They come accompanied by enough baggage to serve them well on a 'Two Years Before the Mast" trip around the Horn

They have great fun around a campfire and sleeping in the historic Lighthouse Keepers dwelling.

This year they looked fit and hardy in the morning (which is not always the case).  They said the highlights of this years' trip were:

  • The incredible night sky with the stars ablaze.
  • The crisp and dry weather.
  • The friendly visit by two beautiful foxes.
  • The snake they thought was dead, but was hardly so.
