The Southport Club of the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) celebrates 20 years in Saugeen Shores and welcomes new members to its 2009/2010 speaker series, Women Around The World, Peace, Poverty and Politics, on Sept. 9, 7 pm at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre.

President Cheryl Kryzaniwsky says the speaker series pays tribute to the millions of global women who work to maintain peace, reduce poverty and advocate for fair political representation.

In addition to monthly meetings featuring knowledgeable speakers, the Southport Club offers special interest programs including book clubs, dinners, hiking, video and issues discussion.

CFUW is a non-profit, self-funded national organization of 10,000 women university and college graduates active in raising awareness about social, economic and legal status of women as well as educational, environmental and human rights issues.
