After just over a year on the job, Bruce Telecom's chief executive officer, Michael Andrews, has resigned.

Company chairman Richard Martin said Andrews submitted a letter of resignation last week, citing personal reasons for leaving his post on Dec. 4.

Andrews was hired last fall and introduced to Kincardine council at its Sept. 10 meeting. He took over from Hans O. Nilsson who had retired in the spring of last year. Andrews came highly recommended, with 30 years' experience in the telecommunications business and was president and CEO of Amtelecom in Arthur.

The municipal telephone company has hired a Toronto firm to find an interim CEO who will be assisted by chief financial officer Laurel Stein. Meanwhile, said Martin, it's business as usual at Bruce Telecom which is struggling with a difficult year and facing a $500,000 budget shortfall.
