Brian D. Cole's Weather Measurements

January 23rd, 2008.  The Saugeen Times has added a very powerful area weather section to bring together all the sources we can muster.  The reason?  Weather is so important to us here.

Brian Cole is a volunteer for Environment Canada and takes readings twice a day.  So we'll try to bring them to you as often as we can.  The will appear on the 'Area Weather Page'.  Here is what they mean in Brian's words:

The readings are taken here at 49 Grey Street North, Southampton.

The reset figure is after one has set tipped the minimum dumbbell to current temperate. This one has red alcohol in the bulb with a dumbbell , which will stay at lowest temperature in the recording period.

Whereas the maximum thermometer is mercury, and will stay at maximum temperature reached, this one has to be "swung" two or three times to reset to present temp.

If you are around this way, please drop in, and I'll show you....
