4 Sahar Hassinien was one of the many family members who came out in
support of their young musicians
They are young, full of energy and extremely talented as they proved
at the Battle of the Bands on Saturday, June 13th in Southampton.
Three bands, 'Sins of Affliction', 'Tuesday Social' and 'Ossified',
took part in the first competition to duel it out. The winner will
move on to the next Battle being held in July with another in
August. The winner of each will then move on to compete at
Pumpkinfest to be held in Port Elgin October 4th with the winner
from that event moving on to the Youth Summit to be held November
20th.
The first play-off held Friday, June 12 at the Southampton Town
Hall, and emceed by Kristen Holloway of the Beach Radio, saw many
parents, family members and friends, come out to listen to the
groups - some hearing their young teens on stage for the first time.
The three judges, Patrick Bales, Nick Given and Glenn Smith, said
that they had a difficult time choosing the winner but they, and the
audience who all voted, finally decided on 'Sins of Affliction' (next column)
