The Very Popular Current Feature

According to Barbara Ribey, Curator and Director of Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre, it's one of the most successful summers to date in terms of attendance.

"It's been exceptional," said Ribey, speaking at the recent Southampton Residents' Association (SR) Annual General Meeting (AGM) held Saturday, July 25th at the Museum. "Last Thursday, we had over 1,000 people come through with close to that Friday and again today. The weather may have played a part in the numbers but the majority of the attraction is the robotic Dinosaur exhibit and other programs we have started for children and their families. The children find it all exciting and, therefore, it is drawing hundreds every day."

Ribey has always maintained that Museums should be an interactive environment and not the old 'look but do not touch' theory that once existed. "The children are our future and they have to understand the past in order to appreciate the present."
