On January 26th, Audrey Underwood was once again honoured for
her tireless work in genealogy and history.
In 2007, she was honoured with the Municipal Heritage
Conservation Award and, on Monday at Saugeen Shores Town Council
meeting, she was presented with the 2008 Ontario Heritage Award
for her work in preserving the community's heritage and culture.
For more than 40 years, she has been involved in history and
genealogy and is always willing to share her knowledge or advise
those who are researching their family trees. (next column)

Underwood was also instrumental in establishing the
first Genealogical Society in Bruce County in 1971 and was its first
President. For many years, she has collected birth, marriage and death
records out of newspapers and collated the information into a usable
format now being used at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre.
In addition to providing archival assistance at the Bruce County Museum
and giving seminars about how to 'research a family tree', Underwood is
also an author and area representative on the Bruce County Historical
Society.
