Even in the local nursing home in Southampton, the witches came out to celebrate Hallowe'en.

While they don't go out 'trick or treating', they remember very well what it was like and it was different from today. It was about home-made treats like fudge, candy apples and other treats. Today, however, everything is bought at stores and nothing is eaten that isn't sealed.

Today, however, the residents in Southampton's care centre bobbed for apples and pinned the 'tail on the donkey' the way they used to.

It doesn't seem to matter how old you are, Hallowe'en is for all ages.

Two mothers of two Town Councillors met for the first time, coincidentally, sitting beside each other as their children do at council meetings. Neither  knew each other before the Halloween celebration. Left is Jeryl Frosst (mother of Taun Frosst) and beside her is Helen Huber (mother of Diane Huber)
