The Bruce County Archives is celebrating Archives Awareness Week, April 7 to13. Activities will include free admission to the Reading Room all week, behind-the-scenes tours, local history video presentations and an introduction to family history. Archives staff will be on hand to answer questions about utilizing the archival collection. Archives all across Ontario celebrate Archives Awareness Week during the first week of April. Archives are essential in the preservation and access to our documentary heritage. It important to recognize this significant role that Archives play in our community. To quote Sir Arthur G. Doughty, the first Dominion Archivist of Canada: "Of all national assets, archives are the most precious; they are the gift of one generation to another and the extent of our care of them marks the extent of our civilization."
