All Town non-union full and part time employees may receive a raise
 

All non-union, full and part-time employees may be getting a 3% costing of living increase effective January 1st.

The recommendation was brought forward at Monday's Council meeting and includes employees at the Saugeen Shores Medical Building, volunteer firemen and members of council. The annual cost of living increase based on 3% will also be built into the 2009 budget.

Not everyone on council agreed with the recommendation. "I think in this time of economic downturn," said Councillor Luke Charbonnea, "council should be setting an example and should not implement an increase for councillors. Any money we receive is simply intended to be a reimbursement for time lost at a job. I do not agree that we should implement an across the board 3% increase."

The recommendation to have the authorizing by-law prepared for council's consideration was passed.
