About Us (a little more)

The Saugeen Times has received what can only be described as an unbelievable response.

We had no idea when we decided to embark, on what we felt was a needed entity in the community, that we would be received with such positive energy.

Your responses, queries, letters to the editor and, sometimes, acerbic comments are all welcome. To us, it shows that you, the reader, is out there and still curious about what goes on in our community.

We had one reader in particular who said, "Who are you? Why aren't you letting us know who your biased writers are? Where are you getting the money for this publication?

First of all, let's start at the beginning because obviously our 'About Us' column is not informative enough for some people.

  • Who are you?

This is an effort of many. The editor/owner is Sandy Lindsay who could never, ever possibly do this without the help of dedicated friends and volunteers, many of whom will be asked to help out in the future (if they only knew).

  • Why aren't you letting us know who your biased writers are?

Hopefully, we are not biased. What we are trying to do is present an unbiased, in-depth, objective, alternative news source (enough adjectives?)

  • Where are you getting the money?

If you are a reader, does it matter how a publication is being financed? We are attempting to bring a news source to the community that doesn't cost the reader anything. That is one of the reasons we started the Saugeen Times. Large multi-nationals are buying up our local news sources and we want to make a difference!

Hopefully, this answers the immediate questions of some who seem to have difficulty in understanding where we are coming from. Anyone who has started a new endeavour understands the trials and tribulations and all we can do is move forward in what we hope is positive way.

We hope that you, the reader, will keep your questions and concerns coming in because, without community input, there is no community.
