ARTIST EXPRESSES PASSION FOR GODERICH

Multi- media artist Reta Ross will be the featured member of the Goderich Co-op Gallery during September.  Born and raised  in Goderich, she has a passion for the town, its scenery, its beaches and simply the 'lay of the land'.  She truly believes that Goderich is the prettiest town in Canada , a statement often attributed to Queen Elizabeth or some member of the Royal family, none of whom have ever visited Goderich.  Reta feels that this sentiment  is accurate and Goderich scenes are her favorite  artistic  subjects.

Essentially self-taught, Reta has completed courses in Charcoal sketching, pastels, acrylic, and watercolour, by reading self-help books and "flying by the seat of my pants".

Multi-tasking, Reta raised three children while enjoying a 28 year career at Volvo Motor Graders (formerly Champion Road Machinery).

The years of experience in Marketing gave her a solid knowledge of photography, visuals and graphics.  Early retirement allowed Reta to pursue her passions or visual art and literature.

Last month at the Goderich Art Club show in the C.P.R. station, Reta was the featured artist. The encouraging feedback and positive attention generated by her display of Goderich paintings has inspired her to choose some of the same works to hang in the Goderich Co-op's member wall for the month of September.

Be sure to drop by the Goderich Co-op Gallery , Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., as the gallery is always staffed by a working artist.  You might also visit Reta's art ( along with the other member artists) at www.gcgallery.ca .
