An unusual mural created at Roberto's Pizzeria

Anna Claudette Ferguson worked with a teenage class of budding
artists as part of the Southampton Art School's summer programs.
She took the young artists through a course on designing and
painting a mural on a building's exterior wall. The wall chosen,
with the support of the building's owner Jim Stark, was Roberto's
Pizzeria in downtown Southampton. The normally blank wall overlooked
the patio where people can sit outside and enjoy one of John Gray's
famous pizzas. Now, however, diners also have an unusual mural to
enjoy.
The painting is made up of the silhouettes of the 12 young artists
in various poses of preparing pizzas and covers the entire wall. The
class began work on the mural on Monday and finished it on Thursday
with only a sealer coat left to apply. (next
