It's time to get outside and celebrate winter at the 7th
Annual Winterama celebrations.
Sponsored by five Rotary Clubs in the area, including, Port
Elgin, Southampton, Tara, Shallow Lake-Hepworth and Wiarton, the
day is filled with outdoor activities.
Winterama has become a major fundraiser with 100 per cent (100%)
of the monies raised going toward children's and youth projects
throughout Grey and Bruce. Of the total, 50 per cent of the
proceeds go to the United Way's Rotary Children's Fund in Grey
and Bruce and the other 50 per cent is distributed within the
communities by the local Rotary Clubs.
The events take place at a variety of venues, including the
Shallow Lake Arena and Port Elgin's Plex facility. Participants
can take part in snowshoeing, skating or cross-country skiing
with a minimum pledge of $25.00.

many prizes. There are also many other events in outlying communities,
such as Tobermory and snowmobilers are encouraged to contact their local
clubs for details.
Registration for Winterama on the 7th, is between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30
a.m. followed by a hot lunch at noon. Gift bags and trophies will be

along with the Shallow Lake Crushers team will be "passing the hat" at
Friday night's game at The Plex in Port Elgin (Jan. 23) and again in
Shallow Lake on January 30th.
