The Municipality of Kincardine Council held a special meeting on April 29, 2015 to discuss the future of Bruce Telecom.

Previously, council had directed Mayor Anne Eadie to contact Bragg Communications, the proposed purchaser of Bruce Telecom with a view to continuing a possible purchase option.

At the meeting however, Council passed the following resolution that all further engagement with Bragg Communications Inc. with respect to the sale of Bruce Telecom is suspended.

In addition, the Mayor, staff and legal advisors will move forward with the Arbitration Protocol formerly established in January of the Asset Purchase Agreement between Bragg and the Municipality.

Kincardine Council will now work with the Board of Bruce Telecom and, as Mayor Eadie, explained, "The new Council had exercised due diligence in requesting information, first to get up to speed on the telecom industry, the process involved with the original sale process, CRTC regulation changes regarding competition, and possible options that could meet the competition Bureau requirements”.

Therefore, the Mayor confirmed that, "Council will continue to work with Bruce Telecom to make it as competitive as possible in the current market."
