John Douglas Kreutzweiser
1931 - 2015

When it came to his community, Doug Kreutzweiser was a force to be reckoned with.

He was a business owner, a plumber and an electrician who dedicated much of his time to his community.

He served not only as Mayor of Southampton, he was also the Fire Chief and served as County Warden in 1961.  He was also a member of the School Board, was a lifetime Mason and a Rotarian who received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award.

'Beloved husband of Dolores (nee Campbell) for 64 years. Loving father of Karen and her husband Burnie Gill of Port Elgin. Cherished grandfather of Brian (Carlie) Gill and Ashley Gill. Dear brother of Betty Ruth and her husband Ed of Hepworth and brother-in-law of June Kreutzweiser of Wiarton. Remembered fondly by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Allan, sister Helen Buckton and her husband Clarence 'Buck' and his parents William and Luvina (nee Huehn) Kreutzweiser.'

A Masonic service was held on Thursday, February 26th at the Downs & Son Funeral Home in Hepworth and there will be a visitation at the Tolmie Presbyterian Church in Port Elgin on Friday (Feb. 27th) from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 12:00 p.m.

Expressions of remembrance may be made tot he Alzheimer Society (Research), Country Lane Nursing Home or Southampton Hospital would be appreciated.

A tree will be planted in the Memorial Forest of the Grey Sauble Conservation Foundation in his memory.
