Kincardine council enjoyed a wonderful musical interlude at the start of the final meeting of this council, Wednesday night (Nov. 12).

Members of the Kincardine Theatre Guild arrived with a singing telegram, addressing council with the following song, written by Bonnie Bryan, and sung to the tune of "Four Strong Winds":

"Four long years at this table
Now this council has to go,
We are grateful for your time on our behalf,
There were good time and some bad
Voters happy and some were mad,
Grab your hat and coat and say goodbye to staff.

"Thanks to Larry at the helm
Now you feel your work is done
As you pass the torch for someone else to burn,
'Cause you don't get a medallion
Hanging in like Hazel McCallion,
Normal life on Wednesday nights can now return

"We wish the new folks all the best
As they start where you left off,
Will they find the cash to pay for natural gas?
Water pipeline in Ward 2
And the turbines spoil our view,
Will the Tiverton centre get fixed up at last?

"Four long years at this table
Now this council has to go,
We are grateful for your time on our behalf,
There were good time and some bad
Voters happy and some were mad,
Grab your hat and coat and say goodbye to staff."

Council thanked the theatre guild members for a wonderful send-off.

The inaugural meeting of the new Kincardine council will be held Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 5 p.m., in the council chamber at the municipal administration centre.
