Tiverton Blooms “Garden of Distinction” has now closed for nominations and the judging has been concluded. Did you see someone lurking around your gardens? Watch for details on the winners.

Tiverton Fall Fair - Enter your crops for the Harvest Awards at Tiverton Fall Fair – contact: Jamie Convay 519-368-7980.

The deadline for the Fair Display is fast approaching. This year’s fair theme is “Trucks, Tonkas & Tractors” and your display must be registered and in place no later than Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. The display must face the nearest public road and be clearly visible to passing traffic and be accompanied by a sign (visible to passing traffic) stating Tiverton Fair – Oct. 3-5, 2014.

Tiverton Knox Presbyterian Church is having a free will donation barbecue Sept. 15 at 12 noon, hosted by the Restoration Committee. Come out for a great lunch.

Manor Musings – Thanks to the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band which came to the manor for its practice before the Massed Pipe Band Parade Saturday night, Aug. 23. It was a treat for all the residents who enjoyed it immensely and the weather co-operated. 

Birthdays this month: Lilian Wilkerson, John Taylor, Mervyn Collins, Verna Munro, Eva McPherson, Anne Kirk and Laverne Schmidt. 

Wow! Cold winter? Mark this date on your calendar, Sept. 20 is the date for the next Geri’s Fashion Show and Sale open to the public.

Birthday Wishes - Penny Shanley would like to wish her stepfather, Ron Manto of Tiverton, a Happy Birthday from everyone from the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), his stepdaughter, stepgrandson, et. al.!

There’s a new restaurant in Tiverton! Crossroads Bar & Grill, formerly of Lucknow, will be hosting a “Meet and Greet” barbecue over the Labour Day weekend at the former Carmell’s. Let’s all welcome Shirley Sands. Watch for news on the grand opening.

Underwood News

The Underwood-Wesley United Church had its annual “Pork Chop Barbecue” Aug. 18, with 465 people attending. The barbecue was complete with yummy pies.
