Birthdays wishes go out to Gerry Brooks, Heather Catto, and Kevin Carr. Lina Thibodeau will be joining the half-century club. Apparently, I missed a wedding anniversary. Bruce and Nancy Malcolm, congratulations!

Bob Facca (a.k.a. “Grandpa Bob”) was greeted in Tiverton, Saturday, Aug. 16, by the Tiverton Lions and enjoyed lunch at the Underwood Community Centre. Grandpa Bob is walking 4,000 kilometres in support of his grandson, Louie, and all boys who suffer from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a disease that affects around one in 36,000 boys. Tiverton Lions presented a cash donation of $185 to Grandpa Bob. Tiverton wishes Grandpa Bob good luck on his journey!

News from Inverhuron

The Inverhuron and District Ratepayers Association is having its annual meeting, Saturday, Aug. 30, starting at 10 a.m. in McIntyre Park (Lower Park). If bad weather, the meeting will be moved to the Tiverton Lions Hall.  For additional information, contact Gordon Barr at Gordon.barr@sympatico.ca

The annual Corn Roast is also Saturday, Aug. 30, starting at 6 p.m. at the Sand Beach in front of Sheila Ogg’s cottage.  There will be entertainment so bring your lawn chair. If bad weather, the Corn Roast will be moved to Tiverton Lions Hall.

The Inverhuron Run will be held Sunday, Aug. 31, starting at 10 a.m.  Starting point is the Inverhuron Provincial Park Beach parking lot. For additional information, contact Dave Jewett 519 368-5213

Manor Musings

The Kincardine Rotary Club had its annual Seniors Picnic, Tuesday, Aug. 19  Fourteen residents attended at the Kincardine Pavilion were the lunch was delicious, the music entertaining and the Rotarians were wonderful. It was a great time to visit with old friends. A big thank you goes out to the club for all its hard work and hospitality. The Rotarians will see you the same time next year.


Tiverton Fall Fair

The deadline for the Fair Display is fast approaching. This year’s fair theme is “Trucks, Tonkas and Tractors” and displays must be registered and in place no later than 
Sept. 7, at 6 p.m. Display must face the nearest public road and be clearly visible to passing traffic and be accompanied by a sign (visible to passing traffic) stating "Tiverton Fair – Oct. 3-5, 2014."
