Kincardine council is going back into closed session Tuesday night (Aug. 19) to discuss the sale of Bruce Telecom.

A special meeting has been called for 7 p.m. at the municipal administration centre to move into closed session "for the purpose of considering advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege, including communications necessary for that purpose (Bruce Telecom sale), pursuant to Section 239 (2) of the Municipal Act, 2001, as amended."

Last week, Kincardine was hit hard in connection with the closed-door meetings held prior to the announcement Jan. 22 that the municipality was selling Bruce Telecom to Eastlink (Bragg Communications) for $26.5-million.

Initially, Kincardine had to address issues that surfaced from a closed-door meeting investigator report that indicated council had breached the Municipal Act by holding in-camera meetings to discuss the sale of Bruce Telecom.

Secondly, the Competition Bureau of Ottawa announced it has refused to allow the sale, and stated Friday that the two parties have terminated their agreement.

Kincardine has objected to that statement and requested a correction from the bureau.
