(Bruce Peninsula, ON) – On April 30, 2010 members of the Ontario Provincial Police Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit, the Bruce Peninsula Detachment and the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant on the property at 94 Coveneys Road, Bruce Peninsula, County of Bruce. OPP officers had received information from the Cape Croker First Nations Police Service and worked in conjunction with them to bring this investigation to a successful conclusion.

Police located an illegal cannabis marihuana grow operation and seized cannabis marihuana plants with an estimated potential street value of approximately $1,749,174.00. Also located and seized from the residence was a quantity of property valued at approximately $28,000.00 and $3,300.00 in Canadian currency.

Police located and seized 2 firearms and ammunition that were stored unsafely.

Jeffrey TURNBULL (36 yrs), Martha PLOTNIK (32 yrs) both of London and Daryl FITPATRICK (26 yrs) of Windsor were arrested and charged with Production of a Controlled Substance, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Unsafe Storage of a Firearm. The three have been held for Bail.

COTTAGE BREAK-IN REPORTED
(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON.) – A cottage property on William Court, north of Oliphant, was entered over the past week. The culprit entered a pump room and stole the cottage’s water system pump. Nothing else appears taken. The cottage owner has yet to attend to determine if anything else was taken.

RIDE STOP RESULTS IN THREE DAY DRIVERS LICENCE SUSPENSION

(WIARTON, ON) – A 50-year-old Wiarton woman went home with a 3 day drivers licence suspension Sunday evening. Bruce Peninsula OPP were conducting a RIDE check on the south end of Wiarton Sunday evening when the local woman stopped her car and completed a u-turn in an attempt, it appeared, to avoid the checkpoint The car was stopped. Police determined the woman had been drinking and a roadside test was administered. The test result was a “Fail” reading which resulted in her arrest for driving over the legal limit. She was transported to Bruce Peninsula OPP and Intoxilyzer test results, at the detachment, showed her blood alcohol concentration had gone down to just under the legal limit.
The Wiarton resident was issued with only the 3 day licence drivers suspension and released from custody.
