Maiyan Burgess and Meghan Grundmann demonstrate tagging a butterfly Each year, teachers in Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) are becoming more involved in environmental issues such as developing butterfly gardens and raising awareness of the global community One of the most wide-spread initiatives is that of tagging and saving the Monarch butterfly. In 2008 and 2009, workshops of 50 registrants each were filled with a waiting list. More than 2000 students have learned about the amazing migration story of the Monarch butterfly.

Over two years, a dedicated team of volunteers have worked to facilitate the workshops that included clasroom, hands-on and fun field epxeriences.
