The Matriarchal society is obvious.  The 8 total are from the right, Mrs Slater, Mrs. Finn, Mrs Williamson[with teapot] Mrs. Wotton, Mrs. Williams. I forget the last 3, sorry ladies.

My own mother had gone to change a cranky baby for a minute.  They ruled the roost with equal rights. Anyone's kid.  A cuff on the ear  was standard procedure for being naughty.  Many of their husbands didn't make it home. Many other ladies not in the  picture were in the forces and other wartime duties.

Behind the photographer was plain rubble. Note the stones on the street.  Our post war playground. The houses shown are still standing.
