Southampton Rotarians give a facelift to an abandoned building on the main street of Southampton and the opportunity for community groups to create awareness

According to 'people on the street' in Southampton, they  have been disappointed in the appearance of recently closed stores - Rexall Pharmaplus, which moved to a new location and Gallery Jui Kali which has been closed for some time.

Now, thanks to the initiative of the local Southampton Rotary Club the former Rexall, or at least part of it, has a new look.

The group approached the owners (sellers) with the help of local McIntee realtor Harold Fenlon and asked if they could create a community window.  The window would feature events being held in the community and would avoid the 'blank' out of business appearance experienced by many closed businesses.

The owners agreed to let the group re-vamp one part of the building's facade and the Rotarians, the Southampton Art Gallery and the Cancer fundraising group Pretty in Pink wasted no time and created a new look on Thursday.

.... and after

"We are very pleased to be able to give the store-front a more vibrant appearance," says Rotarian Tony Sheard.  "It's good for the look of the entire main street."
