Six local police services will join forces this
summer and fall working in conjunction with each other in an
effort to increase traffic safety in Grey and Bruce Counties.
The services include the West Grey Police Service, Saugeen
Shores Police Service, Hanover Police Service, Owen Sound Police
Service and the Grey County and South Bruce O.P.P. detachments.
During the summer and fall months the amount of traffic on our highways increase and that is why these agencies will be working together to execute a series of traffic enforcement initiatives in Grey and Bruce Counties. Enforcement initiatives will include R.I.D.E. checks, speeding, aggressive driving, seatbelt violations with concentration in known trouble spots and high traffic areas. Motorists and citizens will see officers from outside their municipalities working together in their neighbourhoods executing a series of traffic enforcement initiatives. “This effort is an excellent example of how well law enforcement agencies can come together in the interest of public safety and I feel confident that these endeavours will provide positive results,” says Chief Rene Berger of the West Grey Police Service.
