The organizers of the Lions Head Country Music Festival in Northern Bruce Peninsula were abuzz with excitement today after accepting a $15,000 cheque from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch joined the Rotary Club of Lion’s Head to officially congratulate them on their new grant, as OTF representative Bill Walker presented the group with a plaque from the Foundation.

“Events such as this one create a significant economic benefit for the area. This is going to be a great festival and people are going to come out and have a great time,” said Murdoch.

The OTF grant will be used to promote the annual Lion's Head Country Music Festival scheduled for August 20 to 22nd. Funding will also support the rental of sound equipment and help to ensure the success of the festival. Led by dedicated volunteers, the festival’s reach grows each year, as people from both the surrounding communities and U.S.A. head to Lion’s Head for the three-day celebration.

“Our Rotary Club is pleased to be able to carry forward this annual Country Music Festival, which is such an important event in our community,” said Jack Hall, chairman of the festival committee. “We appreciate the financial support which this grant from the OTF provides to this venture.”

The Rotary Club of Lion's Head is a volunteer-led charity with a mandate to “Service Above Self.” The Rotary  Club of Lion’s Head has built park play areas for children, sponsored sporting events for youth, sent students to planned provincial leadership events, donated scholarships to local schools, supported hospital fundraising projects, operated community parades including the annual Santa Claus Parade, sponsored community music events.
