David Cook will be riding his bike for two days, from Toronto to Niagara Falls, to help in the battle against cancer.

The Ripley resident and his wife, Veronika, work at Sobeys in Kincardine, and held a barbecue in front of the store Sunday to raise funds for the event.

This is Cook's third year participating in the Ride to Conquer Cancer, organized by the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation in Toronto. The ride runs June 12-13, beginning at the Canadian National Exhibition grounds in Toronto.

Cook must raise at least $2,500 in order to participate. The barbecue brought in $1,100.

Over the past two years, he has raised more than $7,000 in the ride. His goal this year is $3,200. All the funds go directly to cancer research and will hopefully one day very soon, result in the cure to conquer cancer.

"Cancer has affected so many people I know, from family and friends to co-workers," says Cook. "This is a foundation that I truly believe in, and will always continue to support whether I'm doing the ride or not. Together, we can make cancer a disease of the past. Thank you to everyone for their continued support."

If you wish to sponsor Cook's ride, go on-line to www.conquercancer.ca; click "Ontario," "Donate now," and then type in "David Cook" and make your donation.
