newly-appointed councillor

Kincardine council has officially approved the appointment of Guy Anderson as the new councillor, replacing Ron Coristine who resigned April 2.

At the meeting last night (May 14), council approved the bylaw, allowing Anderson to fill the vacant councillor-at-large seat at the table, and he was duly sworn in by clerk Donna MacDougall.

Anderson, 64, served as Ward 1 councillor on Kincardine council for 10 years, up until the 2010 election when he ran for councillor-at-large and finished in fifth place.

Prior to serving on council, he worked in the former Town of Kincardine building department for 20 years, serving 18 years as chief building official.

He is currently a board member on the Penetangore Regional Economic Development Corporation (PREDC).

A beekeeper, Anderson and his wife, Gail, and son, Josh, along with several employees, operate Anderkin Foods and Lazy J Ranch, at the south end of Kincardine. Part of that business is the Hive 'n Hoe Country Store and Market Garden.

Anderson is also a member and past-president of the Grey-Bruce Agriculture and Culinary Association.
