The theme song for Ontario’s newest walking festival, just might be “These Boots Are Made For Walking” with the announcement of this new walking festival taking place June 5th and 6th in Saugeen Shores, Ontario. The 2010 Saugeen Shores Walking Festival is sponsored by Nuclear Waste Management Organization.

This walking festival combines a variety of unique rural walking experiences that take full advantage of the area's stunning scenery with walks taking place in and around MacGregor Point Provincial Park, Saugeen Township, Southampton and Port Elgin, Ontario.

Included in the festivals activities are: A scavenger hunt, a sunset beach walk, an owl prowl and coyote howl, an introduction to Geocaching, urban poling and Nordic walking, a heritage walking tour, and the opening of a brand new walking trail that will connect Southampton and Port Elgin trails to MacGregor Point Provincial Park trails.  This new festival has a great choice of walks led by informative guides, all to be enjoyed with friendly fellow walkers of all ages.

This festival was created in response to the trend of all ages wanting to have a more active lifestyle and being given the opportunity to explore local outdoor locations and attractions with family and friends.

The full program for the 2010 Saugeen Shores Walking Festival is available at participating attractions: MacGregor Point Provincial Park, Saugeen Shores Municipal offices, Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre.
