Relay for Life gearing up for the big event

The Canadian Cancer Society's Relay for Life is being held July 9th in Saugeen Shores and will be held at the Saugeen District Secondary School (SDSS).

A public Information and Registration Day is being held at Legault's Independent Grocers in Port Elgin on Saturday, May 29th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for participation in several areas for the big event:

Sign up a new team

• Pledge an existing team

• Register as a cancer survivor or as a caregiver

• Purchase a luminary to honour a loved one

• Ask about volunteer opportunities

Relay for Life is the Canadian Cancer Society's signature fundraising event and is seen as an opportunity to get together with family and friends to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loves ones and fight back in the hope of finding a cure.

The event, sponsored by Bruce Power, starts at 7:00 p.m. on June 9 and concludes at 7:00 a.m. the following day and features many fun-filled activities and continuous entertainment throughout.

To date, there are 37 teams registered and more than $14,000 has been donated through the on-line site - www.relayforlife.ca
