High Street in Southampton has seen some storefronts become vacant but there have also been new additions on the main street.
Joleen Nickel, owner of Loose Leaves tea shop formerly located on Albert Street in Southampton, across the road from the Southampton Art School, has recently made a major leap of faith. She has taken over the the former 'Jui Kali' Art Gallery next to Bayberry's on High. Nckel has long been exploring the possibility of moving to a location on the main street and it has only been within the past few weeks that the move has come about. "I am so excited," says Nickel. "This really is a dream come true." The new location will be known as "Serendipity on High Street", indicating what brought the store to its new location. In addition to teas, Serendipity will also feature items created and sold in support of women throughout the world. |
A space to sit for a taste of tea From the newsprint jewelry by the women of Rwanda, the recycled bags from the women of the streets of New Delhi India to the handcrafted ornaments by the women of Thailand, the items carried in Serendipity are considered 'fair trade' in support of women and children on third world countries.
