The last Thursday of each month is designated as a Texas Scramble event for the Mens’ Section at Chippewa Golf and Country Club.

This event groups members into 4-man teams, where the best shot of all four players is chosen by the team, and all four players hit their balls from that location.  Because the teams are made up of players from each of A, B, C and D flights based on their handicaps, the players from A, B and C flights had to use the longer blue tees for their drives while the D-flight players could tee off from the red tees.  As well, everyone had to get at least one drive in during the nine holes.

The play this week took place on the par 37 back nine, and there were some pretty impressive scores handed in.

In first place, with a score of five under par 32, was the team captained by Bruce Towner with Gord Shular, Jim Norwood and Don White.  In second place, one stroke behind with a score of 33 was the team captained by Rick Grolway with Mike Cleary, Grant Shular and David Porcellato.  Three teams tied with scores of 34, and after a putt-off to break the tie, third place went to the team captained by Frank Yakabuski with Lloyd Kibler, Jef Schell and Bill Streeter.

Lou Bezaire won the Closest to the Pin competition on #13 while Mike Pitzen sank the Longest Putt on #17.
