On Thursday, June 17,Captain Rick Smith, along with Crew Don Warren, took a special trip to Chantry Island. On board the Peerless were Doug Johnson and Bob Trelford.
Doug Johnson raises the new annual flag on Chantry Island Doug's mission was to raise the new Canada flag as he has done for the last 9 years. At the end of every season he lowers the flag and, if needed, buys a new flag for the next season because, as a flag expert, he simply cannot tolerate a faded Canadian flag ... mission accomplished.
Master carpenter, Bob Trelford, carefully notes measurements One of the pioneers of the Keeper's House Restoration and the Chantry Island Tours, Bob Trelford, came along to measure for some needed repairs to the back porch of the keeper's house. He will now source some 2"hemlock to replace weathered boards as he says it has to be authentic - no pressure treated wood here! The two gentlemen, who are both members of the Propeller Club and long time friends, shared stories of the island project and experiences on the water. It was a beautiful day and a wonderful opportunity for relative "newbies", Rick and Don, to learn from the "masters".
