Kincardine health care foundation holds appreciation night

Seven plaques were presented to local groups and businesses at the fourth annual Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation appreciation night May 25.  

The first recognition went to Home Hardware and Canadian Tire which donated Christmas trees for the Christmas ornament campaign, and to Bruce Telecom which set up one of the trees in its downtown store.  

Others thanked were Boston Pizza, Crabby Joe's/Bulldogs Junior C Hockey Club, and Foodland for doing fund-raisers for the foundation.

Plaques were presented to the following:

  • Jim Prenger of the Kincardine and District Lions Club ($9,630 - supporter category). Lions  made donations to the Analyzer; X-ray machine, Defibrillators and other medical equipment. 
  • Ripley and District Lions Club ($ 9,150 - supporter category). Lions made donations to the Analyzer, Mammogram, X-ray machine, Defibrillators, Building and other medical equipment. 
  • Hank VanMoorsel of the Tiverton and District Lions Club (7,910 – supporter category). Lions made donations to the Analyzer; Mammogram, X-ray machine, Building and other equipment. 
  • Margot Riekenbrauck of the Merry Kin Seniors Club ($ 7,740 – supporter category). Merry Kin made donations to the Analyzer; Mammogram, X-ray machine, Building and other medical equipment. 
  • John Brown of Bruce GS “B” Social Club. The club started the Annual Charity Golf Tournament eight years ago and this will be the final year it will host the event, but the club is still heavily involved with the charity golf tournament. The tournament has raised thousands of dollars for the Kincardine and the Saugeen Hospitals.

  • Dan McFadden and Craig Palmateer of the Kincardine Erie Belle Old Stars Hockey Club ($8,662 – supporter category). The club made donations to the Analyzer; Mammogram, Building and other medical equipment.
  • Bev Fry of Bruce Power Corporate (over $400,000 – benefactor category). Bruce Power Corporate has made donations to the Building, Mammogram, Analyzer, X-ray machine, Defibrillators and a lot of other medical equipment.

The South Bruce Grey Health Centre - Kincardine hospital auxiliary also presented the foundation with a cheque for $1,000 that night.
