May was another banner building month in Huron-Kinloss. Chief building official Matt Farrell told council at its general committee meeting June 7 that permits had been issued for nine new homes, with a total construction value of $2.145 million, plus the Lucknow Arena addition valued at $630,000, and a new dairy barn valued at $600,000. In total for May, there were 30 permits issued, with a value of $3.674 million. This year's figures are way ahead of last year's, reported Farrell. To date for 2010, there have been 86 building permits issued, for a total construction value of $10.584 million, compared to this time last year, when 50 permits had been issued, for a total value of $3.934 million.
