Thousands of dollars have gone to support activities and programs at Kincardine Township-Tiverton Public School and Kincardine District Secondary School, thanks to the FundScrip program. Administrator Carol Blake said almost $13,000 was raised through FundScrip, a program that promotes the purchase of gift cards for various stores, with a percentage of the money spent going toward school activities. This school year (2009-10) at KTTPS, $5,522.53 was raised, with $736.19 going toward Grade 7 students in anticipation of their Grade 8 graduation trip; $3,174.28 to the Grade 8 graduates for their trip; $1,318.06 for the School Community Council; $213.38 for the Outdoor Education Centre; and $80.63 for all activities. For this school year at KDSS, a total of $7,135.33 was raised, with $763.37 going to the Athletic Council; $446 going to Environmental Sustainability Initiatives; $2,680.59 to the Home and School Association; $163.50 to the Music program; $646 to the Outdoor Education Program; $764.30 to Robotics; $1,039 to all activities; and $632.57 to Transportation. |
Blake appreciates everyone who participates in the FundScrip program and urges them to tell others about the benefits of raising funds this way for the schools. She thanks those who place an order each week in support of schools and encourages them to mentor others who don't know about the program or do not understand how it works.
