Station Beach in Kincardine is flying a Blue Flag again this year. The Group Environmental Defence announced on its website, that Kincardine was among the 15 beaches on the shores of Lake Huron to earn the honour.

To get a Blue Flag designation, the municipality has to meet 35 strict international standards for the environment and water quality. Sauble Beach has earned a Blue Flag for the fifth year in a row. Other beaches include Grand Bend and Bayfield. Marinas in Bayfield and Grand Bend will also fly the Blue Flag. The Town of Goderich has started the program and will apply for the status for Rotary Cove Beach.
